Joyeux Noël

Dear followers,

First of all, let me wish you a very merry christmas, wherever you are right now and however you celebrate these days. Either with your family, your beloved, your friends, alone or in any part of the world, I wish you all the best.

In my family, the 24th is the most important night. I only arrived yesterday at 5 pm after a long trip from Germany to Switzerland. My Dad called a day before and was totally afraid, that my flight could be cancelled. Therefore I went to the airport 3 hours earlier, with the consequence that I couldn't get into the earlier flight and a few hours to spend at the airport. But well, I didn't care as long as I arrived at home on time. And I did.

I was expected by my family and we had a lovely dinner. Afterwards we exchanged presents before Mom and I went to church for the midnight mess.

Today - a tradition in our family - we went skiing to Les Gets in the French Alps. Blue sky, really good snow conditions and few people made this day to one of my best skiing days ever. I have been waiting for this moment for now 8 months and couldn't wait to be on the slope again.

Nevertheless I would like to write something about my last week in Germany. I had two exams: English was fine whereas Law was a disaster. But I don't care, it's done. Furthermore we had a few christmas parties in and around university, but most of the people have already left on thursday or friday the latest. So there were only three persons left on friday night (including me), so that we cooked together a gratin out of rests we still had in our fridges.

I will soon snuggle myself in front of the chimney, reading a book. However I am really tired as I skied a lot today. Before we will have dinner together.

After all these months without my family, I am really happy to be here now. I try to enjoy time but I have 6 exams after my holidays. So work will continue.

Before I forget it: I also wish you a good start in 2012! Next Sunday, I will try to post on time, depending on whether I am too tired or not :)

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Good morning!

What a wonderful morning since I've looked outside: Snow!

When it comes to snow, I'm just like a little child. I am smiling all day long and have fun in the white mass. As I went to the bakery this morning, I heard children screaming: Mom, look, there is snow! It just made me smile. This is how winter shall be.
I mean, I only had 5 hours of sleep because we celebrated another birthday this weekend, but still: It is snow!

Only 6 days left until I go home. I'm so looking forward. The 25th you'll find me on the skiing slopes in the Alps - that's for sure. There is just one thing, I don't wish: Too much snow on Christmas Eve. As I will take the plane to go home, I don't want to be stucked on any European Airport. Let's cross fingers.

So, what happened this week? Well, I spent a lot of time in the library because of my first exams this week (English and Law). I also got my first notes this week which I am actually quite satisfied with. Furthermore, as I already said, I went to a bar last night and had a really good time. This was probably the last time before holidays that we all partied together.

Here is still a lot of work waiting for me - next week I'll give you a short post about how I got home and how I spent Christmas Eve, but it might be later then. Wish you all the best.

Merry Christmas! Have a wonderful day with family and friends :)

Cinnamon Rolls

Good morning :)

I started the week by cooking some delicious Arabic food with friends, but to lose those calories I partcicipated in a soccer tournament the next day. Wednesday I had a great pizza with my roommates. Then we had a Christmas Pub Crawl which was a lot of fun. At the end of the week, I invited friends to have some cheese fondu.

You see, quite an exciting week (with a lot of food). And only 13 days left to Christmas. I'm just so looking forward. I now have all the presents, but still can't decide what I could wish. Maybe a new bag? A book?

Although I have a lot to work on, I try to balance my life by watching TV (Gossip Girl and biathlon) and reading (Sophie Kinsella: Shopaholic ties the knot). I can be serious on one hand, but need this gossip to relax on the other. Everytime I read Kinsella, I'm giggling and forget about the work lying on my desk.

Actually I would like to recommend two fashion blogs I follow: dreamseverybodyhasthem and just be yourself. Both fashionistas have a good taste and update their blogs often. Might be I present a blog each week from now on. Depends if I find anything interesting or any ideas from your side?

That's about all from last week. See you next Sunday (then already the 4th advent!).
xoxo

P.S: I told you, I would make some Christmas cookies:

Swedish Cinnamon Cookies

50g butter
270g puff pastry
100g sugar
1 egg
1 spoon cinnamon

Melt the butter in a pot. Mix sugar and cinnamon in an extra bowl. Enroll the pastry and smear it with the butter. Afterwards put the sugar-cinnamon-mixture on top (except one spoon!) and roll the pastry within the length. Then cut the roll into slices (about 1 cm thick) and smear whisekd egg on each cookie. To finish spread the left spoon of sugar and cinnamon on the cookies and put it in the oven (200°C) for about 12 minutes.

Chocolat

Good Morning my dear friends!

Yesterday I was on Germany's biggest Chocolat Market in Tuebingen - and as you can see on the pictures: It was great. The market is in the entire town and everywhere you can see pralines, hot chocolat, artifacts made out of chocolat, crêpes with chocolat, ... Perfect for me as I am a chocolat lover. I was there with a bunch of friends and together we signed in for a chocolat workshop at RitterSport. You can see the result above. My chocolat is composed of some Corn Flakes, rasperries, chocolat chips, Gummi Bears and speculoos. But it will be a present to my family, so I will tell you on Christmas how it tastes. What do you think about the packaging?

During the week there were another few birthdays (I spent all my money on presents) and still a lot of work for university. I held two presentation and thought about relaxing now but then my professors announced that we must do another two written assignments.

Do you have an Advent calendar as well? It's great to open a door each day, not only to know when Christmas is but also because I will then go back home. Anticipation! And it also means: Christmas Presents! I don't have much time this year (two exams before Christmas...), therefore I decided to buy things in the internet. Let's hope they arrive early enough. Personally, I don't have a clue, what I could wish myself. Parfum? Books? Money? Help required!

Today, despite all my work, I am going to make some Christmas Cookies. Yum! Recepies come next week.

Happy second Advent!

Christmas Party

Dear followers,

Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell Jingle Bell Rock, Jingle Bells Swing and Jingle Bells ring - snowing and blowing up bushels of fun, now the Jingle hop has begun...

Can't you wait for christmas neither? I'm so looking forward. Not only that I will see my family then but also the atmosphere before is just great. And here we come to this week's topic: We had a Christmas Party yesterday night - check out the photos:
Doesn't it look wonderful?
Dress (Jay Godfrey) + Clutch (Mango) + Red shoes

So get ready for mulled wine, christmas cookies and some snow.
What do you like about Christmas?

See you next week!

Grasse Matinée

Hej hej,

Guess what I am watching right now? High School Musical 3! Although this movie is supposed to be for younger kids, I like to watch it. There is nothing better than starting a Sunday morning in front of the TV without doing anything. Still, I have to work for university later on. But there is also "Sharpay's World" coming afterwards...?!

November must be the birth month. Everyone around me celebrates, so I was invited to three parties in the last three days. And there are even more coming up in my agenda. Twice we were in a Mexican bar which I really like because they have delicious cocktails for good prices. Yumm ♥

Yesterday we had a Shopping Night here and I bought a pair of red shoes for only 8 €. Next Saturday there is our Christmas Party and I will wear them together with a little black dress. I'm so looking forward!
Any ideas for a matching bracelet?

I ♥ Stockholm

This weekend is too short

Dear followers,

this weekend is just too short! I have so much work to do and therefore not a lot time to post anything. I am a little overloaded with work, sports and party - I really have to organize my life.

I still don't have a photo as Jack Sparrow, still looking for one.

Last week we had the so called FiFo, which is a business fair with companies such as Procter&Gamble, L'Oréal, Beiersdorf, Ernst & Young, UBS, etc. Not only that I got some contacts and information about the companies, I also got gifts. Here is my haul:

Really sorry, but I have to go: Work, jogging and a birthday is calling!
See you, love
P.S: I'm reading "One Day" by David Nicholls right now. It's an amazing book, I can only recommend it!

Party Rock Anthem

Good morning dear followers or should I say good night?

I know, I am too late. But I've just slept 13 hours because I only had a few hours of sleep in the last few days. But one thing after the other:

My week until Thursday was quite normal. There was Halloween which I didn't celebrate as I stayed at home and watched "Music and Lyrics" with Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. I've watched the movie twice before and it's not getting better with the third time. But it was better than Halloween which is - in my opinion - an marketing adaption such as the Valentine's Day. It is not fitting into our European culture! Please leave those things in the USA!

My bowling experience and my Chinese food last Sunday were really successful. Not only that I won the bowling but me and my friends we had a great time!

Chinese wok

But now to this week's event: WHU Euromasters!
Schallalaaalaaaaaa, Schalllaaalalalaaaa... I've no voice anymore. We cheered, screamed, partied, did sports, we rocked the gym! For my part, we didn't win women's soccer competition, but I don't care because I made our only goal :) We gave everything, therefore I now have a bruise on my hand, a hematoma on my leg and few scratches everywhere - but it was worth it!

And we had two legendary parties. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of me as Jack Sparrow but as soon as I have one, it will be posted here! We partied in an empty pool, about 700 students from whole Europe. Euromasters, I'll come back!

To finish my today's blog: We won the Pre-Spirit-Competition and got 350 Euro. But we didn't win the Spirit competition as our rivals, the ZU, built a huge zebra and rocked the gym. Respect, this was an amazing show act! Our relay team got the trophy, our cheerleaders and our men's soccer team made 3rd places. Congrats!

Here comes the sun

Here comes the sun doo doo doo doo  - here comes the sun and I say it's alright!

Stress. Yes, that's what defined my last week. On my agenda: A lot of classes, a workshop, sports, two business meetings, friends, party, a concert, a presentation.... I had a bunch to organize and to participate in, so I really needed this weekend. A weekend to relax and to calm down.
And to study.
And to read.
And to cook.
And there will be another day off on Tuesday. Yippieh!

Oh, I still owe you an image from my cousin's birthday...

... and an outfit with my new cardigan ...

For tonight I plan to go bowling with friends and afterwards we will cook together a Chinese meal (Chicken, vegetables and noodles). Bon appetit!

P.S. Next weekend I will only give a short statement as I am on a sports tournament for my university. There will also be a party where we all dress as Jack Sparrow. I'll post my Jack-Sparrow-Version next week! Please check out: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1579566528#!/WHUEuromasters / Go on "Pre-Spirit-Competition" on the left side and vote then for ESB Business School REUTLINGEN University. We have to win!

Enjoy your Sunday and have a nice upcoming week!

Running Dinner

Good morning!
Actually I've already posted something this morning via my mobile, but apparently there were some issues. So, I'm sitting at my cousin's as we celebrated her 18th birthday yesterday. Normally I posted a photo of the club we went to, but my app doesn't work properly. My cousin was really excited before and began counting down half a year ago. So sweet!
This week's event was Running Dinner: We had teams of two people (my partner was a French girl) and we were supposed to cook one course, either starter, main or dessert. We had the last one and made an original French Mousse Au Chocolat (with 6 eggs!!!). Before we went to the student's house to enjoy some tapas as starter and some wraps as main course and afterwards all teams met in the city and spent some time in the bars there. It was a really nice night out, with new people and good food! Must be done again!
I also did some shopping last week in the Metzingen Outlet where I bought a dark red Polo Ralph Lauren cardigan, 70% off. I like! Maybe I will post an outfit next week, because the cardigan fits perfectly to the current fall weather!
Right now I am a little nervous because I have just changed my travelling plans for today. My train actually leaves in half an hour but I now got informed that my uncle will come later and wanted to go to have some lunch with my cousins AND me. Okay... in Switzerland this change wouldn't be a problem but in Germany you cannot change trains as you want. So I hope that my ticket is still valid in three hours. If the Deutsche Bahn creates a problem, I will present myself as unknown French girl ;) Wish me luck!
Enjoy the weather, have fun, don't stress yourself, please comment my blog and visit me next week!

Hike + Spicy Fruit Mix with Chicken

Hey guys! I do not forget you. But I am on a hike right now, there will be a little update at about 2pm.

See you thenPublished with Blogger-droid v1.7.4

This is a "Spicy Fruit Mix with Chicken" which I had at a friend's on friday. Find the recipe below:
Ingredients (4 portions):
500 g chicken
1 mango
1 pineapple
2 peaches
400 g rice (best is Basmati)
2 eggs
honey, soja sauce, butter, chili, pepper, salt, individual spices
Curry Mango sauce (or mix it yourself: curry, 1 pot of cream)
Instruction:
Cut the chicken and pickle it into a mix of some soja sauce and the eggs' whites (for about 30 minutes). While roasting the chicken in a pan, cut the fruits into pieces. Set some water for the rice and let it boil for the given time on the packing. When the chicken is slightly brown, put it on an extra plate in the oven. Now you wave the fruits with some chili, pepper, salt and honey in the same pan (you can add the spices you like). When some fruits begin to have a brown glaced surface, you can mix it with the chicken. Last but not least, take the rice out and give some spoons of the Mango Curry Sauce on top of it. Serve and enjoy!

So, we had dinner on friday night, but also on thursday and saturday nigth I went out to eat elsewhere. No, cooking wasn't my priority last week, but in the next days we have a so called "Running Dinner" which I explain to you next sunday. Cross the fingers that my experiments in the kitchen work out!

Most of the time I spent in university, we have a few things to organize there, but I still like the tensions resulting from stress. I kind of need it. But I also overslept math class on friday because my alarm didn't ring - this is a proper excuse!

On the toilet in our flatshare there is a women's magazine called "Joy" and in there I found my way to style (according to their points): Apparently I am a preppy girl, wearing classical and sporty fashion. Actually, I wasn't that surprised as I have the following two fashion idols:

 Alexa Chung
Audrey Hepburn

Their way of wearing clothes is simple, but always with an attitude. So, get out your trench coats, your chinos, your hooped shirts, your blouses and your cardigans - It's time for style!

Enough for today, I see you next week!

Monday 10 October 2011

Monday morning?

I admit that I am the worst blogger in the world wide web! I am so sorry!
I call my blog "C'est le dimanche matin" so that I blog something every sunday morning. And here I find myself sitting in front of my computer on a monday morning! Next week - I promise - I'll be here on the right day!

So, best event this week: The Wasen in Stuttgart! It's like the Oktoberfest but much smaller and it was the first time, that I went to such an event - I liked it! A lot of beer and a lot of music, but it was so much fun! Of course I also did some rides on the roller coaster, although the last ride made my stomach turn... No worries, I only had 2 "Mass" beer mixed with lemonade, so I felt fine!

The rest of the week was quite calm as we had a lot of work to do... I still don't understand economics. Let's cross fingers that I understand it in the exams!

Last friday I tried Badminton in our university, just to keep me fit while studying. There were mainly Chinese and French fellows, a funny mixture of international people. That is also why I'll go there today for another time!

So far, I really like my "new life" here. For now the two parts - party and studying - are balanced, although I probably will get more and more work on the study-side. Not only because of the classes' contents but also because I'm part of two ressorts (music and alumni) which organize different events during the semestre.

See you next week on the right day!

Sunday 2 October 2011

Home Sweet Home

As the title already indicates it: I am at my parents' in Geneva for a long weekend. It's a bit little strange to be at home as guest but I will get used to it, I suppose.

View from my kitchen window at dusk.

Last week's wheather was phenomenal, we had sunshine every day - the lost summer has its comeback in september now. Honestly, I don't want these warm temperatures anymore. I am ready for autumn and winter where I can sit in my bed reading books, listening to the Harry Potter soundtrack and drinking tea. But accoording to the wheather forecast, I have to "suffer" another week.
University is still great, last week we began with the real classes and I am glad, that I am a lot interested in all topics - Marketing, Economics, Management, Organizational Behavior, ... Yes, I even read some further literature during my trip to Geneva (It took about 7 hours, whereas I now saw that taking a plane only takes 3h 40 although I've to change once. But price is the same which means that I will take the plane next time!).
Also this week we had a lot of parties which is not the best when you must get up early the next morning and try to understand some mathematical formula. But hey, it's university life, isn't it?
On of the highlights was the soccer try out for the women's soccer team in our university which will be prepared for a European University Cup (called Euromasters, WHU). And guess it! I'm in it and so we are going there in the beginning of november.
Another hike expects me today, this time in the French alps. Tomorrow I head back to Reutlingen to continue my studies. I want to learn, how crazy can life be?
Enjoy the weather and have a nice week ;)

Marathon

Good Morning!
I start this wonderful fall morning by posting a photo of my Sunday morning breakfast before I go outside and enjoy the weather. Yum!

This week was one of my best I ever had. It all started Sunday night when my fellow students and me arranged a meeting via facebook to get to know each other. We had a lot of fun and I met people from all over the world: France, Mexico, USA, Netherlands, ... this is exactly why I wanted to study International Management - people are international here. And all extremely nice.
During the week there were a lot of parties that I attended nearly all to. Monday we had cocktails (Cocktails in Germany can be so cheap), Tuesday we went to the movies, Wednesday we had a big party, Thursday we watched DVDs and Friday we went out again. Only yesterday I had a little break: I went to a friend's to have some typical swabian dinner. Now you know why I called this post "marathon".
Not only party and people defined my week, but it was also the first week in university. Everyone was in the same situation - we all are new here - so I quickly found people to talk to. We had information events and got briefed about how we can make up our schedule. We had our first classes. We even had some language tests...
What do I expect in the next months? I think university life has two parts: Studying and leisure. I try to balance those parts as best as possible, meaning: I study, but I have enough free time to do sports, party and just have a good time with (new) friends. Can't tell you how happy I am to be here.
Little resumé:
  • people:
  • food:
  • university:
  • teachers:
  • internationality:
  • party:
  • sports:
  • activities:
I went to Tübingen yesterday with some other students where we spent a great day and had really good ice cream. It's a lovely city to hang out at. Look at the blue sky!

My university's credo is: Study hard, party even harder.
So, I start with Maths tomorrow afternoon. Let's get the party started.
See you in one week!

Sunday 18 September 2011

Day before university starts

This is my first post ever.
I try to post things every sunday morning from now on. Things means events that occurred, items that inspired me, fashion I saw, people I met, recipes I tried and so on and on.

To begin I tell you that I have my first day in university tomorrow. I am rather excited as I don't know what to expect. Tonight I will already meet some fellows privately, so I get a first impression. I've to admit: Via facebook I've already checked a few profiles... we'll see whether those will be confirmed tonight.

However there is also a Welcome Party for new students which I go to. I hope to meet some foreign students, especially french, to speak to as I really hope to keep my english and french skills. Let's cross fingers that that works out. Well, and I hope of course that I will be fit enough tomorrow. Quite dumb to organize a party before the first day in university, some reputations can suffer.

Next week I have probably more to tell: how my first week was, how university life is and how people are. See you then.
