A simple week recap

Monday. First day back in the holy buildings of university we are welcomed by an English test that made my hand hurt within less than 60 minutes. I should go back taking notes on paper instead typing everything down on my laptop or smartphone. The test turned out to have English lessons now on Monday from 8AM to 11AM. Thank you. To enlighten the day we went to a sneak preview at night that showed "Celeste & Jesse forever" - easy romance comedy and drama that I classify as a decent movie.

Tuesday. First classes that I only survived with a glass of red wine with my flatmates in the afternoon. Topics and projects are fine. Most of the work will be team work this semester, so I only cross fingers that teams turn out to be helpful and productive.

Wednesday. Even more project announcements. And a great night out watching football and seeing all my beloved friends. Football turned out to be uninteresting compared to all the stories we had to tell each other: Relationships, internships - Goaaaal! - friends, parties, cities... you know how the night went by.

Thursday. Welcome Back Party that I stupid girl had to organise as my former company sponsored it. Finding a way of transport was the hardest before and after the party but we managed it well in the end. At the party itself I distributed glasses for 3 hours before I could finally start enjoying myself. And I only stopped at 4AM. We all had very much fun.

Friday. Some hot chocolate with a friend, some afternoon nap because sleep was just too short the night before and then a "Lord of the Rings" night. We only finished the first movie and watched the second by the half. It calls for a follow-up. And not only because we had Haribo, crisps and cheese fondue.

Saturday. I slept until noon before watching Gossip Girl season 6. Then I went up to do some useful stuff but I couldn't force myself to go out as it snowed and snowed and didn't stop for an instance. Though, at night I ended up having dinner with my colleagues who will join me to continue the studies in France. We were in a French bistro and a Mexican bar, with wine, good food and even more lovely friends.

Sunday. I only got out of my bed to write to you. About today I can only tell you that I had lovely dreams and that I wish you all the best for the upcoming week.

Dear readers,
This week was full of events and I enjoyed every single part of it. How good it is to be back.
*And excuse me that I didn't shot a single photo. This will be changed, promised!

Study, buddy!

Happy Sunday!

Unbelievably I moved to my new room near university campus yesterday and have back my beloved internet access which simplifies blogging a lot.
In consequence I had a really moving week: last day at work, move out on Friday with my parents, move in on Saturday with my Dad, in between a stop in Bonn, first meeting with friends at university, ... I wouldn't want to miss these days.
What shall I say? It was really good to see my friends again. We talked for hours, drank some cocktails and are all looking forward to starting the new semester. I needed a lot of drinks as my moving days were exhausting: boxes up, 5 floors down again, packing, squeezing, sweating - well everything a move implicates. And some nightmares about my dragon landlord: I have never met such an unfriendly person.

So enough talk for today. Instead some pictures of the week.
Tomorrow is my first test, so we'll see how easily I can adapt to university again.
Enjoy your week. I will be here next Sunday again!

... oh and by the way: No, I don't miss work.

Last day at work with sparkling wine and finger food

Next!

Yes. It's been half a year.
6 months that I lived in the beautiful city of Dusseldorf.
6 months that I worked in an international company.
6 months that I made memorable experiences.

As we all know, pictures say more than words. Therefore I compiled a collage of all the memories that shaped my life and personality within this time.
Somewhere over the rainbow - Auberge espagnole - Blue jeans vs. pencil skirt - Beauty to go - Northern lights - Where there is love there is life - Autumn closet - Another fashion story - Sweet week - Releasing endorphins - Ice ice baby! - Back to the roots - Potpourri - Dedicated to someone - In the heart of Europe's money - 1st Advent - Christmas market - 142 hours - Driving home for Christmas - And another happy new year! - East shots - I feel talking like my grandparents - Winter breeze - Next!
Usually when I start to realise that time at a certain place is soon over, I always feel that I have missed thousand things. This time didn't differ: I went partying twice this week, went to sports more often than I used to, stayed in the office until late and observed my environment intensively. With these events I feel more allowed to leave and make the huge step to a already known place: university.

Never would I have expected to miss university, but within my internship there were moments when I wished to sit in classes. Of course, mostly because I missed my friends and the fun we had together. On the other hand, I will also miss my team here. They supported me nearly each day, so a close relationship was built.

I need to mention that this weekend is the last to post from a public spot: next Saturday I move to my new flat share. But before, the cafe where I spent a lot of time deserves its own photo. At least it fed my Internet addiction.
Thx Woyton (especially for unplugging the lamp in order to get my laptop charged :))
Enjoy your week. And live each day as if it were you last.
And dear brother, all the best for your birthday!

Winter breeze

Good morning my dear friends,

Today I can delightfully announce that I am sitting at McDonald's Cafe, drinking a hot chocolate with soy milk while posting. I cannot wait to have a simple Internet connection at home. Matter of worse is that facebook is no longer accessible at work which forces me to read my newsfeed on my smartphone. Urrrgh.

Since it has been abnormally warm for the last couple of weeks, it started to snow during the week and temperature fell below 0°C constantly. Layering up, drinking hot chocolate and reading good books are my favourite activities this weekend, believe me. However on Tuesday night I couldn't resist the urge to run outside - childish as I am - taking pictures while it was snowing. This was truly a memorable night that I prove with some photos:

What else has happened last week? We had our department's dinner when the dessert was one of the best mousse au chocolat I ever had (and I had a lot...). The dinner was a fun night out although it is sometimes strange to see serious colleagues in festive mood.

Having told you that I was successful in sale shopping, I proudly present two new items in my wardrobe: a simple blazer which I received a lot of compliments for and a light top whose collar is a true eye-catcher. It enables me to combine with 1000 different items which is just what I like.
Blazer / Top (both Zara)

Today I will meet some Mexican friends to bake some pizza. Otherwise my plans are hardly specific. I have only 8 days left to work which makes me sad and happy the same. Have a great week with lot of fun!

I feel talking like my grandparents

Time flies by.
My colleagues remind me each day reproachfully how many days are left until I leave them. The new semester starts in three weeks. A friend arrived two days ago and will already leave this afternoon. The week went by so fast that I have the feeling that I didn't leave the cafe to post for you. Yes, I am back in the same place.

But what made it so incredibly fast? (I feel talking like my grandparents now but they were right) Sports, reading, friends, a lot of work, shopping and some other things kept me on the go. Though actually nothing extraordinary happened. Talking of my friend earlier we had a great girls night on Friday, drinking cocktails and talking for hours. Then we yesterday went shopping (last weekend of sales) where I got a nice blouse and a blazer at Zara (pictures follow next week). We finished the day by enjoying great waffles in an old castle and having a fun night out at the movies, watching Pitch Perfect - a super funny movie for all who love A-Capella and college movies. Afterwards we imitated the following scene that we want to present at a art's night in university. Well, you need challenges.

As I have told you last week, I bought a new pullover, so here my first real outfit post (posture must be improved :)). I love pullovers that speak for themselves. And only some days ago I read that every woman should have her jeans label that fits her well: mine is American Eagles Outfitters. Best jeans! What do you think?
Pullover - Only / Jeans - American Eagle / Boots - Gabor / Shopper - Longchamp / Scarf - Vintage / Glasses - Ray Band
Today I plan to do a little sightseeing with her before we separate again. At least I hope that the next week doesn't fly by as fast as the last one. I want to enjoy my last weeks here in Duesseldorf, feeling that I have done thousand things!

East shots

Good morning everyone!

Guess where I am sitting? In a Starbucks-alike coffee bar to get some internet access. My lovely landlord decided to resign our apartment's contract which is why I will blog from public hotspots the next weeks. No clue where next week will be. Maybe here again: it is rather calm, food and and drinks are good and the staff is friendly.
Rasberry cupcake and hot chocolate with lactose free milk - perfect Saturday :)
For 2013 I wish you all the best with luck, love and joy! Instead of posting a review (as lots of other bloggers do) I decided to look into the future: less food, more sports, watching the Lord of the Ring-Trilogy, starting my studies in France, reading two Ken Follets, improving grades, spending time with great friends, holidays, finding a great summer internship and so on and on and on.

As promised last week the pictures of Berlin will now follow. When I visited Berlin the first time about 6 years ago, I didn't like it at all. This perception changed a lot: I appreciate the lively atmosphere in the districts of Prenzlauer Berg & Kreuzberg, the cosyness of the Hackesche Höfe and the time that I could spend with friends. The fact that I am a lot interested in history makes Berlin even more fascinating: you meet history everywhere you go - the wall that seperated once the city, old airport Tempelhof, Jewish Memorial, ...
Not a fan of NYE I was invited to a party that we left before midnight to watch the fireworks in downtown. However I was scared all night to get hit by some crackers or fireworks because people shot them wildly around. Luckily I survived and could start safely in 2013!

Back in Duesseldorf I started working on Wednesday (tired obviously...) and went to the Rankin exhibition on Friday night. He is very famous photographer and his works are more than impressive. And yesterday I couldn't resist to grab a cupcake after a shopping marathon that ended with a new pullover! Have a great Sunday!

And another happy new year!

Dear readers,

The entire week was dominated by emotions: happiness, sadness, disappointment, joy, glory - the wide range emotions can have. But let me start with the positive vibes:

First there was a three time skiing experience which was just awesome. You know how much I love skiing! Remembering three days in powder snow and sun turns me actually kind of sad as these days will be my only one in this season. Since I am able to ski (and I have been doing it for over 18 years), it is the first winter that I only have three days on my account. Note therefore: Have later a job in a snowy and hilly area.
Presents under the tree
Secondly there was of course Christmas: As a German family the presents are exchanged on the 24th and I actually thought that I wouldn't be surprised at all. But my mom played a trick on me: for a long time now I dream of a Burberry scarf that I actually don't want to spend a fortune on. Well, what shall I say? Thank you, Mom. This really means a lot to me.
The other Christmas days were really rainy which is why we went to the cinema all together watching "The Hobbit". Since I read the book a month ago, I was positively surprised by the film adaption. And Christmas also means food. The gym already calls my name and next week will be a diet as dinners were to delicious here: meat, potatoes, fish, cheese, salads, chocolate, cake, ice cream, french fries, ... I stop now.

Presents: Burberry scarf, Tissot watch, Winter of the World by Ken Follet and Nivea Box
Negative emotions? Yes, they also appeared, especially on Friday when I was overwhelmed by my emotions. The night before I spent a great night with high school friends in a BBQ restaurant and realized the day after that one week being home is just not enough to see friends, family and to do skiing. I even didn't manage to go downtown because time was just too short. That turned me really unhappy. Another reason for this sadness is also that I am not too enthused about going back to my internship in Duesseldorf: While thinking about it, I feel more and more that this sector is not what I want. Not at all. And I actually have not so many friends there because many of them left the company before Christmas.

But I am not the kind of persons who focuses long on any negative things. Moreover I am really happy to find myself now in Berlin, the German capital where I am going to meet one of my best friends in a few hours. While writing this, I smile, believe me! More about Berlin, I will show you next week.

Let me finish by some words to 2012: To sum up it was a very positive year for me. Highlight was probably the trip to the US (here, here and here), the change from university to work life and all the time with my university colleagues. What I wish for 2013? A safe and healthy family, a good start in university again (especially when going to France for 2 years in September), a nice summer internship, great time with my friends and some happy life.

Happy New Year!

Driving home for Christmas

Good morning,

Today I only want to limit my post to some pictures I could gladly take during my return to home. I so much appreciate to spend time with my family and friends!
Yesterday morning I arrived and was truly relieved after 4 months away from home and without any holidays. It was the first time that I realized that I really need this time off and could therefore only hardly concentrate throughout the week that I mainly spent having dinner with colleagues and friends, doing some sports (against the Christmas-calories!) and packing my stuff.

As I only will stay one week, I want to benefit of today's impeccable weather and be on the slopes all day. Before I not only want to show you the promised photos, but wish you of course a merry Christmas (or whatever you celebrate) with your beloved ones.
